Dr. Judy Campanaro is a graduate of Queens University Medical School. She is a specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology with a Fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. She began KARMA’s fertility program in 1993 and today enjoys a reputation for having the most successful programs in the Kitchener – Waterloo Region.

Dr. Roger Stronell graduated from McGill University Medical School and then became a specialist in diagnostic imaging at the University of Toronto, with a Fellowship in Diagnostic Radiology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He devotes his practice entirely to obstetrical and gynaecological ultrasound and is a KARMA consultant in women’s imaging.

nursing staff

Judy Renwick, BA, RN has been the nursing coordinator of KARMA’s fertility program since its inception. She graduated from the Conestoga School of Nursing, has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Waterloo University and holds a specialist certificate in infertility nursing from the American National Certification Corporation. She implements Dr. Campanaro’s protocols on a day-to-day basis and is the patient’s contact during monitoring of natural, IUI and IVF cycles. She frequently teaches education days at local high schools and community organizations and has always been a significant contributor to KARMA’s enviable reputation in the Kitchener area.

Rachael Skuza, RPN is a graduate of Fanshawe College of Nursing and is certified in Medical Device Reprocessing through the CSAO. Rachael has spent most of her career in nursing in the paediatrics and the women's healthcare field. She started at Bayshore Home Health, assisting children with Diabetes and Cerebral Palsy, followed with training in infertility. Rachael mainly runs the operating room in the KARMA IVF suite, assisting Dr. Campanaro with oocyte retrievals and embryo transfers.

Heather Palmer, RN is a graduate of Fanshawe College of Nursing and has a broad experience in obstetrical and gynecological nursing, both in hospital and clinic settings. She assists Dr. Campanaro in the OR during procedures.

counsellors

Ann Louise Woodward, RN, CPMHN(C) received her nursing education at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, and practiced for many years in the hospital environment, in both in-patient and out-patient settings. She has a specialist certificate in psychiatric mental health nursing and is an experienced counsellor in many areas of mental health, including eating disorders, individual, group and family therapy. She is particularly skilled in the area of lifestyle as a contributor to stress. Her experience with clinical setting biofeedback and stress management led her to pursue and achieve certification with Essi Systems of California regarding the “Stress map”. She has worked in fertility counselling for the past 19 years and has been at our clinic since the opening of KARMA.

Tracy Moore, MLT is a graduate of Cabot Institute of Applied Arts and Technology. She operates KARMA’s laboratory, testing blood and semen for determining fertility potential and treatment cycles. She performs all necessary quality assurance procedures. She also coordinates the donor sperm program for KARMA’s patients.

IVF staff

Dr. Kayla Perkel, BScH, PhD is a clinical embroyolgist in KARMA's IVF suite. She has been working in the field of human assisted reproductive technologies (ARTs) since late 2012 but has over 6 years of experience with bovine in vitro production. Her passion for embryo health/viability and developmental dynamics stems from her PhD in Biomedical Sciences (with a specialization in reproductive health and biotechnology). When Dr. Perkel is not in the lab, she enjoys teaching students and training andrologists/embryologists in all ART techniques, such as cryopreservation and micromanipulation.

Sonja Swanson, BScH, MBS is a clinical andrologist at KARMA IVF. She has been working in clinical assisted reproductive technologies (ART) since late 2011 and joined the KARMA team in 2016. Previously, she graduated from the University of Guelph with a Masters of Biomedical Science with her specialization of reproductive biotechnology; her Masters project looked at the gender differences in growth rates of early bovine embryos. Sonja has a passion for patient education as well as quality/process improvement in the lab.

Reception

Julie Ditzend is the receptionist in the KARMA IVF suite. Outside of work, she enjoys weight lifting and has a very active family. She enjoys cooking and exploring the outdoors.
